1980-1990
Style Versatile was in the womb of his mother crossing Laos on the Mekong River whilst his siblings and mom were praying for safe crossings. Style was born as Sourixay Vilalay on August 28th 1980 in a refugee camp in Thailand. The family was thankfully sponsored by a non-profit organization in Fortworth Texas to come to America. Parents separated in 1984, and an uncle from Oregon drove down to visit and ended up hauling all in his van to come live in the NW and we've been here ever since. The family moved about every 2 years throughout Portland where we got to experience the growth of a city from small to medium and now considered big. With the move, Style attended 3 grade schools, Sunnyside, Buckman and John Ball Elementary. There was something special about Style as he was accepted to Talented and Gifted (TAG) for his drawings of warewolves in the forest.
1990-1999
Style Versatile honed into his creative juice by being in the atheletics and arts. As a fatherless child being raised by a single mom, he was able to soak in a plethora amount of experiences that helped evolved him into the person he is today. He enjoyed everything from gymnastics, football, basketball, wrestling, chess, drawing and painting. Style was able to design his grade school logo of John Ball Elementary taking first place with "Johnny the Bat Cat." At Portsmouth middle school, Style ambitiously played the roles of Dr. MLK Jr, as well as the Big Bad Wolf in school productions. In Highschool after failing to pass regular classes on time; he found himself going to Summer school to make up for it, he eventually became fed up the the idea of just being mediocre and wanted to turn his narrative around and ran for Associated Student Body 3rd Vice President and won in 1998. Style had many irons, or too many to handle so to speak and thereafter had a mental breakdown from too much stresses in his personal and public life. With the aid of homeschool Style barely was able to walk the graduation class of 1999 with his fellow peers.
2000-2008
Recovering from a broken spirit and a blurry time, Style went to Mt. Hood Community College to pursue being a teacher. While helping being a teachers aid at Madison Highschool, Style realized the challenges he would face seeing to get everyone on the same page. Style reminisced of the joy of his Senior Portraits experience of how that brought about a positive energy within. Style graduated from Mt. Hood Community College with an Associates in Applied Science of Professional Photography and thought perhaps he could teach that skill and then would be respected as a future teacher. While there at the college, Style served as an All College Events Coordinator producing "Welcome Week" festivities and served as a Student Senator (Community Outreach). Style championed extracurricular activities such as being Photography Club President, Photo Editor of The Advocate College Newspaper. (Took 1st place in photo division 3, and received Best of Show for Women Inspiring Hope and Possibilities). While photographing a theater class, Style rekindled the spirit of Acting and did plays from, Henry V, Fiddler on the Roof, Reasons to be cheerful, and Stage managed Sordid Lives.
2008-2019
Style worked as a photo lab technician in Lloyd Center's Mall: Wolf Camera. He also became a manager of Picture Me Portraits Studio. In the midst of driving Medical Transportation, doing Network Marketing, and working for Best Buy, Style had to say goodbye to the corporate life and now currently drives for Rideshare companies. Beyond that he is a new dad and freelance his multi-media marketing services, including photography, videos, and audios.
